general
What's the best way to contact you?
Email is the most reliable! Email: heymarsoid (at) gmail.com

Do you take commissions?
I don't have commissions available publicly but I do offer them and requests on occasion on my Patreon.

Are you available for freelance project work?
Shoot me an email with more information and I'll let you know my availability!

What tablet/program/brushes do you use?
I draw mainly in Clip Studio Paint on a Huion GT-191 Kamvas tablet, and sometimes in Clip Studio or Procreate on an iPad pro. The brushes I currently use are the RC Side Pencil and RAZOU Linearter for Clip.

Will you teach me how to make a webcomic? Do you have any tips?
I have a guide in the works on how I make webcomics which you can find for free on my patreon below!

Who are your inspirations?
TB Choi, Sean Murphy, LeSean Thomas, Robert Valley, Milt Kahl, Sergio Pablos, and Phil Bourassa are a few!

Can I interview you for a school assignment?
Sorry to have to say I'm not going to do any more school assignment interviews for now! If you have one or two questions you're curious yourself, don't hesitate to ask. Just no more long lists of questions please! If your teacher is forcing you to do this stupid assignment, feel free to make some stuff up about me. Make me sound cool.

Do you have a NSFW blog?
Nope! NSFW stuff is posted on my Patreon!

Can I RP your characters/make a RP blog/kin them?
Nah, they’re still my personal OCs so that just feels too uncomfortable for me (Mitch and Jonas have their own blogs on tumblr @bitchell and @jonaslights).

Your character looks like (some other fictional character)!
Not a question, but a comment that is difficult to respond to. Also gets old pretty fast!

Can I get a tattoo of your art?
I am fine with tattoos of my Long Exposure art or my fanart. Ask me about other OCs, though! Also please show me if you do get a tattoo of my art, I'd love to see!

What tips would you give to artists looking to get their work off the ground?
If I could give any art or career tips, it would be to experiment with different styles and ideas, and not wait until your art is "good enough" to try something. Make the kind of art you'd want to be paid to make, don't follow the popular or trendy current art styles just because you think you have to to get work.

What is your artistic process?
My art process isn't much different than anyone else's, I think... Looking for references and inspiration, sketching, inking, coloring. Making small useless tweaks for the next 5 days.

When you’re in an art block, what do you do to help you break out of it and start creating again?
I'm not a great person to ask for this... I usually just wait until I want to draw again, or force myself to draw and hate what I make. Which doesn't seem like the best thing to do.

When did you realize you wanted to be a comic artist?
I've always been an artist, and I started making crude comic books in elementary school. I decided I wanted to be a comic artist because I love working on my own projects.

What struggles have you come across when making comics?
The main struggles I've come across when making my own comics are probably the pressure to monetize it, fandom demand, and turning the thing I originally made for fun into a job and the mental and emotional toll that takes.

What’s your favorite part about writing comics?
I also really just enjoy the problem-solving aspect of writing. Like how to make plot points work together, or story flow, subplots, character relationships, things like that!

Did you go to art school?
I did go to an art school briefly, but I did not graduate due to financial concerns.
Patreon
What is Patreon?
Patreon is a membership service for creators to provide content, as well as ways for artists to build relationships and provide exclusive experiences to their subscribers, or "patrons." You give me money, I give you art and comics!

What do you charge for your Patreon?
The lowest tier is $1 per month.

How can I see NSFW art?
My NSFW art is posted in the "Absolute Menace" and "Delinquent" tiers.

When am I charged?
Patreon takes the money from your account as soon as you pledge, I believe.

long exposure
When does the comic update?
I update on most weekends between 3-7 pages at a time. I take a break between chapters, usually for about a month.

How old are Mitch and Jo?
Mitch is 19 (he was held back.. a few times), and Jonas is 18.

Is the comic available in print?
Yes, check out the shop!

How long is the comic going to be?
12 chapters.

Will Long Exposure be made into a single book when it’s finished?
Yes!

Is Long Exposure NSFW?
It has implied NSFW scenarios. More direct NSFW available only on Patreon.

Where can I learn more about the characters?
Check out the wiki here!

What do the characters sound like?
Check out the comic dub!

What kind of music do Mitch and Jo like?
Playlists here!

Is the comic going to be in greyscale the whole time?
Every so often I have panels/pages in color to emphasize an important scene, but the majority of it is in greyscale.

Is that one guy a juggalo?
Javier. Yep (yes this gets asked a lot haha).

What is Buddy?
Bud is Mitch’s pet of indeterminable species.

What’s gonna happen in the comic (or other spoilery questions)?
Just wait and see!

Is it okay to make fanart?
Yes of course! You can tag me in it on Instagram or Twitter (@marsoids)! (Heads up that instagram doesn't show me all my notifications though, so sorry if I miss things!)

Can my character be in Long Exposure?
I open cameos for patrons occasionally, so if you want a chance at your character appearing in Long Exposure consider becoming a patron!

Do you have the entire story written out?
I have a rough outline for the whole story written! I script each chapter as I get to it.

How long did it take to plan the comic before starting it?
About 7-ish months.

Do you ever edit the story as you’re making the comic?
I make small edits to the script as I work all the time, but it's always stuff that happens later, I try not to go back and make big story changes to pages I've already made.
