In the small coastal town of Sellwood, Mitch Mueller, the resident high school bully, and Jonas Wagner, the quiet nerd, find themselves unwilling partners in a science project. While trespassing on a mysterious government facility, Mitch and Jonas expose themselves to a chemical spill that gives them extraordinary superpowers. Mitch discovers the ability of telekinesis, while Jonas is able to manipulate blades of light that fluctuate based on his emotions. As they learn to control their new powers, they find solace in each other amongst their shared struggles with abusive parents and buried childhood traumas.
As Mitch and Jonas's connection deepens, the line between friendship and something else begins to blur. They find themselves falling in love despite the government's relentless pursuit of the young men, and their troubled pasts threatening to tear the two apart. Long Exposure is a queer coming-of-age story about the complexities of "good" and "bad" people, and the power of love and compassion. This comic is intended for readers age 13+. |
Jonas Wagner, 18, is a chubby, freckled nerd who is an easy target for school bullies. One particular bully, Mitch, seems borderline obsessed with intimidating him. Although Mitch has never physically assaulted Jonas, he's demonstrated on other students that he's more than capable. Jonas just wants to graduate his last year of high school in one piece, but his science teacher doesn't make it easy when he and Mitch are paired for a project. His twin sister and their friends think Jonas is a goner, but the more time he spends with Mitch, the more he thinks maybe there's more to the bully than his rough exterior suggests.
Mitch Mueller, 19, has spent the last couple of years away from school and in juvenile detention. The rumor going around that he stabbed his stepdad isn't entirely untrue, and he uses the fear to his advantage. When he reunites with his favorite nerd, he knows there's no better way to get his attention than to chase him around and pin him against the lockers. How else do you get the boy you have a crush on to notice you? Mitch's luck takes a turn for the better when he and Jonas are paired up for a stupid project he doesn't care about, with all the more excuse to spend time with the freckled honor student. If only there was a chance Jonas could ever like him back... Hah, yeah right. ...Unless? |
